The Code Council's most prestigious award is the Bobby J. Fowler Award, honoring the memory of the first chairman of the International Code Council Board of Directors. It is presented to an individual whose contributions to the building safety industry advance the Code Council's goals to achieve a safer built environment.
The 2013 Bobby J. Fowler Award was presented to Henry Green, president of the National Institute of Building Sciences, former ICC and BOCA Board President and a former executive director of the Michigan Bureau of Construction Codes. He is an honorary AIA member and an honorary ICC Member in recognition of his decades-long career in building sciences and building safety.
Green has spent his career supporting the values that are embraced by the International Code Council and continues to be a champion for the promulgation and enforcement of building safety regulations. He is known for his consensus-building skills, executive leadership and management abilities. At the National Institute of Building Sciences, Green performs the kind of work that has distinguished him as a champion of the building industry.
"We have more to do and collectively, we can get there," Green said. "Winning this award for me just places me in a group of leaders that have preceded me, that are exemplified of the kind of goals and efforts that every member of this organization should strives to achieve... greatness. We should be great in our communities, we should be great in our states, we should be great in this country in terms of making it safe." |
