CODE DEVELOPMENT NEWS
What They're Saying About cdpACCESS
cdpACCESS, an online initiative aimed at increasing participation in ICC's code development process, is being prepared for testing of a handful of proposed code changes during October's Group B Public Comment Hearings in Atlantic City. Following are excerpts from what ICC Members are saying about the new initiative.

Steve Shapiro | Hampton, Virginia

"I'm excited for us to start working on it in Atlantic City. I think the online collaboration tool aspect of it is going to be great where people, before they even get to the mike at the first hearing, will be able to collaborate with others and find out what the pitfalls might be of their change so that they can hopefully get that ironed out before they're standing at a mike with 50 people on the other side of the aisle in opposition." Lorraine Ross | Intech Consulting

"Among my industry colleagues we are looking very closely at how the process will be managed. We are very concerned that there will not be the kind of discussion and give-and-take in the remote setting that you would have at a hearing itself, so I think the jury is out. We would like to see remote voting happen; we would like to see expanded participation happen; but I think this upcoming (testing) will tell us a lot of information about that." View more.

Barry Gupton | North Carolina Department of Insurance

"I like the idea of more people being involved from their office and not having to travel, because most people can't travel to these hearings. I absolutely think the more people that can be involved in the process, the better the process will be." View more.
