2009 Building Safety Week Gains Worldwide Support
 
Code Council representatives prepare for visits with members of Congress during Building Safety Week’s Capitol Hill Day in Washington, D.C.
 
More than 2,600 individuals in 17 countries pledged their support for 2009 Building Safety Week. Supporters included code officials, construction professionals, homeowners, elected officials and citizens who went on record to support the worldwide celebration of safe, strong and sustainable structures. In addition, governors, mayors and county officials from 31 states issued proclamations, official statements and letters of recognition.

News media across the nation acknowledged the importance of building codes and the professionals who enforce them with more than 60 stories in 400 media outlets that reached an estimated audience of 416,359,000.
