NYSBOC ICC Rockland Chapter Sends Marine Care Packages

Vincent Fiorentino, President of the New York State Building Officials Conference (NYSBOC) ICC Rockland Chapter, recently forwarded an email to fellow NYSBOC members from the mother of Lance Corporal (LCPL) Robert (Bobby) Cimmino. The chapter sent gift/care packages to a Marine unit at the end of last year, which has sinced returned home from duty.

"Whatever holiday you are celebrating during this time of year, please take time to pause, think about and pray for our Armed Forces men and women around the world who protect us daily," wrote President Fiorentino. "Yes, We are living in tough times, but things could/would be much worse if our troops were not protecting us."

Below is the note from Cimmino's mother Ellen.

I just wanted to let everyone know that "My Hero" Bobby arrived home safe and sound last night! Words can't express the moment when we heard the sirens and saw the buses driving up the road. The buses passed us so slowly and all the lights were on so you could see each and every face of these brave, young men. Everyone was screaming their Marines' name and everyone was crying tears of joy and happiness. As soon as they were dismissed after their formation, families squeezed through the crowd to see their loved one. Melissa was holding Bobby close and brought him to me, our eyes met, both of us crying and when we embraced it was like the first time I saw him and held him when he was born. I saw my handsome son now a man and I knew he was safe. As we drove home on Rt. 80, motorcycle police who had escorted them from the airport came up alongside of me, put on their siren and gave us a "thumbs up" sign because on the back of my car Melissa wrote, "Bringing Home Our Marine". I want to thank all of you for your love and support during Bobby's deployment. The first thing I did when we saw the buses besides start crying, was I looked up into the sky and said, "Thank you God"; he was the one who really got me through this, "Footprints in the sand" is so true. Please keep all those still serving our country over there in your thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Ellen
