Lee Clifton Guest Speaker at ABPA Technical Conference

International Code Council Director of Plumbing Programs Lee Clifton (left) was a recent guest speaker at the American Backflow Prevention Association's (ABPA) 25th Annual Technical Conference held in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Clifton's presentation "Engineered Codes, How They Are Developed and How They Affect Chapter 6 of the 2006 IPC" was well received and provided a forum for discussion on backflow prevention.

Code Council and ABPA Continue Collaborative Efforts

The relationship between the Code Council and the American Backflow Prevention Association continues to grow into a true partnership. True to the intent of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2008, ABPA and the Council have partnered to develop a four-page, laminated document titled, “Backflow Devices and Protection of Water Supply”. This educational tool will focus on backflow protection as required by the 2009 editions of the International Plumbing Code and International Residential Code. Protection of the water supply used for drinking, cooking, washing and bathing is one of the most important health and safety protection requirements addressed in the plumbing code.
