North Alabama Code Officials Host "Bring Your Elected Officials" Luncheon

Code Council Board Secretary/Treasurer Jimmy Brothers speaks on the history and mission of the Council.

The North Alabama Code Officials Chapter hosted a "bring your elected officials" luncheon June 24 in Madison, Alabama. Chapter President Tom Polk and his executive board did an outstanding job and the luncheon was well attended by local and state elected officials. The chapter arranged for an outstanding panel of speakers that did a very good job in explaining the values of adopting modern construction codes, the role of the International Code Council and the role of the North Alabama Chapter of the Code Council. The program ended with an open discussion so that the elected officials could ask questions.

Speaking at the luncheon were the following:

Chip Carden, Jr., Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board: Why Construction Codes Are Important
Jimmy Brothers, International Code Council Board of Directors Secretary/Treasurer: History of the ICC and Mission of the ICC
Cody Phillips, Chief Building Official: Mission of the North Alabama Code Officials Association
Tom Polk, President of North Alabama Code Officials: Led the Open Forum Discussion between Elected Officials and Code Officials
