Ohio Board of Building Standards' Executive Secretary Billy Phillips Retires

Ohio Board of Building Standards, Executive Secretary Billy Phillips, will retire his position on July 31st. A party was held at the BBS offices on July 21 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, to honor Phillips for his accomplishments and congratulate him on his retirement.

International Code Council Government Relations Regional Director Corey M. Roblee was on hand to congratulate Phillips and present him with a plaque from Code Council President Adolf Zubia and CEO Rick Weiland. Roblee was accompanied by Council Vice President of Chapter Relations Laura Scott, Director of the Ohio Department of Commerce Kimberly Zurz, Superintendant of the Division of Industrial Compliance Gary Schaeffer and Ohio Board of Building Standards Chairman Gerry Holland.

Phillips served as a firefighter in the city of Alliance Fire Department, Fire Prevention Officer and Chief Of the Inspection Bureau for the State Fire Marshall, and Chief Investigator, Professional Development Administrator and Executive Secretary for the Ohio Board of Building Standards. He was instrumental in the development of the Ohio Code Academy and the adoption of the International Codes in the State of Ohio.
