Top City of Chico Officials Retiring

[Source: Chico News & Review | July 30, 2009]

Two top city of Chico officials are saying goodbye. Building Official Hilary Herman retired on July 23, and Planning Services Director Steve Peterson retired on August 28.

Herman got into the building field in Paradise, working as a building inspector and plans checker. She then became Chico's code enforcement officer, went back to Paradise as senior building inspector, moved to Berkeley as interim building official, then to Hayward as building official, then back to Chico for the past several years.

Peterson was hired as Chico's planning director in October 2006. He's worked in the field since 1978, serving for many years as principal planner for the city of Sacramento. His tenure in Chico has corresponded with the update of its general plan.

Mark Wolfe, principal planner, will serve as interim planning director until Peterson's replacement is found.
