Oregon Building Officials Association Launches ThinkPermit Public Outreach Program
The Oregon Chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ORACCA) have teamed up with the Oregon Building Officials Association's (OBOA) "ThinkPermit" public outreach program to help increase public awareness about mechanical permit requirements.
The "ThinkPermit" public outreach program is a non-profit program created and maintained by the Oregon Building Officials Association to increase public education and awareness of building codes. Through the ThinkPermit website, the "Good Wall/Bad Wall" booth at consumer shows and other informational programs, ThinkPermit promotes safety and value for home owners through building permits.
ORACCA members are comprised of ACCA quality contractors and associate members throughout the State of Oregon and southwest Washington. Their members are devoted to being the best in this industry and pride themselves on their knowledge and expertise in mechanical installations for the Northwest marketplace.
OBOA has provided "ThinkPermit" bumper stickers to ORACCA for distribution to their members who will be putting the bumper stickers on their contractor vehicles. In addition, ORACCA contractors will be passing out "ThinkPermit" business cards which includes the ThinkPermit website address to their customers to provide them with information about the multiple benefits of permits.
According to ORACCA President, Buck Sheppard of AAA Heating and Cooling, "pulling the proper permits is of the utmost importance. By obtaining the proper permits, the contractor assures the customer that all work will be done to code and will be inspected by trained professional inspectors. This assures code compliance and safety, thus providing the customer with piece of mind."
OBOA looks forward to our new relationship with ORACCA and sees this as a win/win partnership for both organizations.
