IAS Accreditation Committee Meeting in Southern California

The International Accreditation Service (IAS) convened a meeting of its Accreditation Committee on October 9 at the Norwalk Marriott Hotel, in Norwalk, California. Meetings of the IAS Accreditation Committee are open to the public and to parties interested in proposed revisions to IAS Accreditation Criteria. To view the committee's agenda on the IAS website, click here. The agenda also included miscellaneous items to be discussed in the open forum for consideration of future criteria. The IAS open hearing process is unique to accreditation bodies in the U.S. in that it provides all interested parties with the opportunity to contribute ideas or voice their opinions on the items posted on the agenda.

The committee considered changes to the following accreditation criteria: AC291 Special Inspection Agencies; AC370 Product Certification Agencies; AC371 and AC372 Workforce Training and Qualification Programs; AC98 Inspection Agencies and MISC1 Building Department Registration. The IAS Accreditation Committee is currently chaired by William Dumbaugh, Broward County, Florida. Members of the Committee include: William D. Gregory, Yorktown Heights, New York; Thomas J. Phillips, Salem, Oregon; Jonathan A. Bahr, P.E., Clark County, Nevada; Alan Price, P.E., New York, New York; and Lawrence (Larry) A. Rude, Maple Valley, Washington.
