ICC Foundation Adds New Consumer Education Program

The ICC Foundation has announced plans for the 2010 Tornado Safety Outreach Program, which will be implemented in conjunction with the Resilient Home Program sponsored by the Southeastern Region Research Initiative. The pilot phase of the program will be focused on three southeastern U.S. cities and will include research on tornado shelter awareness along with outreach to building professionals to increase understanding of the new ICC/NSSA 500 National Storm Shelter Standard.

The project is being supported through a partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Clemson University, Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc.—FLASH®, Federal Emergency Management Agency, North Carolina State University, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Savannah River National Laboratory.
