Code Council Elects Board Officers, Directors

Keeping Our Mission on Track

Strong Foundation Allows ICC to Weather Economic Storm

The financial crisis that began in the United States and grew into full-blown global recession has had a significant impact on the building and fire safety industry, but the strong foundation built since the consolidation has allowed the Code Council to weather the storm, CEO Rick Weiland reported during the 2009 Annual Business Meeting. more>>


Residential Sprinklers, Energy Efficiency Gains Addressed During Code Hearings

Residential fire sprinkler system requirements for one- and two-family new construction homes and achieving 30 percent in energy efficiency gains for commercial and residential buildings were among the issues debated during the 2009 Code Development Hearings in Baltimore. Code Council voting members took action on more than 2,600 proposed changes to the International Codes during the proceedings. Read the results.


Code Development and Adoption Key to Achieving Energy Efficiency

Noting that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) submitted more than 75 proposals for the Code Development Hearings in Baltimore, Catherine Zoi, Assistant Secretary for the DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, told Annual Conference attendees that energy efficiency and conservation are a central initiative of the Obama Administration. more>>


Coleman Recipient of Prestigious
ICC President's Award

Former California State Fire Marshal Ronny J. Coleman (right) received the prestigious ICC President's Award during the 2009 Annual Conference banquet in Baltimore. The award is presented at the discretion of the Code Council Board President. Out-going Board President Adolf Zubia (left) honored Coleman for his 40-plus years of dedication and service to the building safety and fire prevention industry. more>>


Rodgers Presented Fowler Award; Individuals and Chapters Honored

Emory Rodgers (center) received the Bobby J. Fowler Award at the 2009 Annual Conference. Michael Fink was named Code Official of the Year. Azarang "Ozzie" Mirkhah received the Fire Service Award, and Thomas Phillips received the ICC Affiliate Award. The Colorado Chapter of ICC was named Chapter of the Year. The Suffolk County NY Chapter received the Community Service Award. Three other chapters were honored. more>>
