New Chapter Benefit Adopted for 2010

The ICC Board of Directors approved a new Chapter Education Benefit as part of its 2010 budget. During budget deliberations at its year-end meetings, the Board approved a new program developed by senior staff that will allow Chapters to purchase most of the ICC curriculum at 50 percent of the list price for one day-long seminar, with additional discounts for multiple-day events and multiple chapter participation. All Chapters in good standing will be eligible for this annual, one-time benefit. Details and scheduling of the education benefit days will be administered by Training and Education staff.

The Board also augmented the budget of the ICC Foundation to create a new program to provide matching funds to underwrite attendance at upcoming Final Action Code Hearings. The goal of this program is to encourage attendance at both the Final Action Hearings scheduled for 2010: May "Group A" hearings in Dallas and October/November "Group B" hearings after the Annual Conference in Charlotte. More details on the program will be issued in the coming weeks.

Approval of these two programs highlighted budget discussions focused on bringing stability to the Code Council after addressing the impacts of the recession in the 2009 budget.
