Jeff White Named Head Calaveras County Building Official Calaveras County's new top building official has had a lot of practice to get him ready for the job. The Board of Supervisors named Jeff White Director of Building/Chief Building Official in a closed session April 7. The action removes "interim" from the title he has held since December 2006, when he stepped in as the county's building official after the departure of Ray Waller. "It was my feeling that I would stay in the position until the county was clear on what they were going to with that position," White said. White was in limbo until the return in March of Brent Harrington, who was appointed interim Community Development Agency director. Harrington stated publicly that one of his priorities was to get the Board to either move White into the top position permanently or open it up for recruitment. The Community Development Agency (CDA) is phased out and White will now be a full department head. The elimination of the CDA department will return Building and Planning to separate departments.
