NY Fire Service Legislative Forum Held in Long Island

Representatives from New York State, Westchester County, Nassau County and Suffolk County fire service organizations, including volunteer fire chiefs, district officers and firefighters, were present to greet U.S. Congress members Peter King (R-NY), Caroline McCarthy (D-NY), Tim Bishop (D-NY) and Steve Israel (D-NY) on December 12 in Long Island, along with numerous New York State senators and assembly members.

Code Council Addresses 2009 Chapter of the Year

Code Council Government Relations Senior Vice President Sara Yerkes (at podium) addressed the 2009 Chapter of the Year, the Colorado Chapter and new officers on December 10 at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. Former Code Council Board member Gerry George installed the 2010 officers.

Code Council Attends Commonwealth Building Officials Meeting

LA Basin Establishes a Green Building Standards Committee

The ICC Los Angeles Basin Chapter is starting a Green Building Standards Committee to provide the membership with information related to Title-24, Part 11, the California Green Building Standards Code, and other applicable energy and environmental standards. Elements of the committee's tasks include, but are not limited to, examining and comparing required standards of Part 11 against existing or proposed building and energy standards, examining Part 11 voluntary standards for possible local adoption, recommending consistent local green building standards, and examining and providing public comment to ICC's (draft) International Green Construction Code.

Unless noted otherwise by the committee chairperson, the committee generally meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the LA County Public Works building in Alhambra from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

The Committee Chairperson is Ron Takiguchi and Board Liaison is Victor Cuevas.
