New to the Acceptance Criteria Process?

Generally, it is necessary for ICC-ES to develop Acceptance Criteria for products and systems that are alternates to what is specified in the code, or that fall under code provisions that are not sufficiently clear for the issuance of an Evaluation Report. New criteria and revisions to criteria are approved by the ICC-ES Evaluation Committee during public hearings or—in selected instances—through an alternate process that involves the solicitation of public comment through the ICC-ES website. To qualify for this process, proposed criteria need to meet at least one of three requirements as stated on the ICC-ES Criteria Development webpage.

Once it is decided by staff that a proposed Acceptance Criteria can follow the alternate process, the criteria will be posted for public comment on the ICC-ES website for 30 days and simultaneously balloted to the Evaluation Committee. Proposed criteria will be posted six times a year. Please click here if you would like to receive email notification when new alternative criteria are posted.
