EPA Recognizes IAS for ENERGY STAR Program
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has formally recognized the International Accreditation Service (IAS) to accredit laboratories that conduct testing for ENERGY STAR-qualified products. IAS is an subsidiary of the International Code Council and an internationally recognized accreditation body.

ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy designed to help save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Product testing in accredited laboratories is an essential part of the ENERGY STAR program’s new testing and verification requirements. The broad enhancements EPA has put in place will ensure that consumers get the energy savings they have come to expect from the ENERGY STAR label.

EPA is building a web page that will serve as the official list of all recognized accreditation bodies (ABs), laboratories, and certification bodies. This page will list IAS as an EPA-recognized AB, and will link to the IAS homepage. General information about the EPA ENERGY STAR program is available on the EPA website.

Details about the IAS program for laboratories interested in becoming accredited to conduct tests on ENERGY STAR qualified products can be found on the IAS website.
