On August 11, 2010, the Clark County (Nevada) Department of Development Services, Building Division, formally recognized the International Accreditation Service (IAS) Inspection Program for Manufacturers of Metal Building Systems as a means for metal building manufacturers to meet Clark County Building Administrative Code requirements.

Ron Lynn, Director/Building Official with Clark County and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the International Code Council, signed a formal statement of recognition with Patrick McCullen, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of IAS, in a ceremony at the Clark County Department of Development Services in Las Vegas.

As a result of this recognition, the Clark County Department of Development Services—Building Division will accept applications from metal building manufacturers based on accreditation by IAS. The IAS Inspection Program for Manufacturers of Metal Building Systems is based on Chapter 17 of the International Building Code published by the International Code Council. IAS is considered a Nationally Recognized Body as defined in the Clark County Nevada Building Administrative Code.

The Clark County Department of Development Services—Building Division also recognizes the IAS Special Inspection Agency Accreditation Program (AC 291) and the IAS Fabricator Inspection Program for Structural Steel (AC 172).

IAS accredits special inspection agencies, product certification agencies, inspection programs for metal building manufacturers, fabricator inspection programs, testing and calibration laboratories, inspection agencies, training agencies, curriculum developers, field evaluation bodies, building departments and building department service providers. A recognized accreditation body since 1975, IAS is a nonprofit, public benefit corporation and a subsidiary of the International Code Council (ICC). IAS is one of the leading accreditation bodies in the United States and a signatory to several international mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs).
