CAAK Holds Spring Education Conference

The Code Administrators of Kentucky (CAAK) chapter recently held its Spring Education Conference at Dam Village State Resort Park in Gilbertsville. More than 210 delegates attended the event. Code Council CEO Rick Weiland and Board of Directors Secretary/Treasurer Bill Dupler were special guests and addressed the membership during the annual business meeting. Conference events also included a Cornhole (aka Bean Bag) Tournament and Fishing Tournament. ICC Visits ESBOF Annual Education Conference

Code Council CEO Rick Weiland, Board members Ron Piester and Bill Dupler, and other Council staff attended the 61st Annual Education Conference of the Eastern States Building Officials Federation (ESBOF) in Newport, Rhode Island, which featured several ICC training courses and ICC Certification exams. Weiland was the keynote speaker at the banquet on April 13 where he provided an ICC Update on the International Green Construction Code. U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) was also in attendance.

As the chapter liaison, Piester swore in the officers: Executive VP Rick Wakem (MA); First VP Bill Gregory (NY); Secretary Jim Kennedy (MA); Treasurer Jeff Coates (MA); and the Board of Directors from all states in attendance (NY, MA, NJ, CT). Dupler swore in new President Andy SanFilippo (NJ). Government Relations Vice President Dottie Harris received a chapter service award. ICC Presents Award of Excellence to Keith Schmidt of University Park, Texas

Code Council Board member Ravi Shah (right) presented an Award of Excellence to Keith Schmidt (left), Building Official for the City of University Park, Texas. The award was presented to the City Council on behalf of the Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT), which recognizes jurisdictions throughout the state of Texas that continuously strive to excel in their efforts to administer and enforce codes.


BOAG Holds 52nd Annual Conference

The Building Officials Association of Georgia held its 52nd Annual Conference April 9-13. Albany Building Official Tracy Hester and the West Georgia Inspectors Association hosted the successful conference. Code Council COO Dominic Sims (standing left) attended and addressed delegates. ICC Board of Directors member Gregori Anderson, a Building Official from Chatham County, Georgia, also attended and installed the new chapter officers and Board members during the banquet. The Conference was a farewell from active membership for outgoing President Tom Carty (standing right), who is retiring from Peachtree City. Tom has been a tireless worker for BOAG for many years and is a credit to the profession.

The newly elected BOAG officers are Carl Fortson, President; Mark Lindsay, 1st Vice President; and Tony Tidwell, 2nd Vice President.

Chapter of the Year Application Now Available

All chapters who have submitted a 2010 Chapter Annual Report are eligible to participate in the Chapter of the Year competition. Applications must be received by June 15. Please note that the Educator of the Year Award is selected by the Education Committee. For details, click here.
