ICC Board Takes Action on New Membership Council Charters
and Proposed Bylaw Amendments

The Code Council Board of Directors, during its quarterly meeting last month, took action on the new Membership Council Charters and proposed bylaw amendments.

MEMBERSHIP COUNCIL CHARTERS

The Board of Directors accepted recommendations on the Membership Council Charters from the Board's Work Group, including the purpose of the Councils to advocate for concerns and issues that are of particular interest to Members of the individual Councils, assist ICC in increasing participation in its Code Development Process, and advise the Code Council on programs and policies, legislative matters, code adoption issues and other matters.

The Board action includes language that calls for the Chairs and Vice Chairs of the Membership Council Governing Committees to serve as members of the ICC Codes and Standards Committee. Each of the Membership Councils will hold meetings at the 2011 ICC Annual Conference in Phoenix. More details will be available soon.

REPORT OF THE BYLAWS COMMITTEE

The Board approved recommendations from the Bylaws Committee regarding the eligibility of Voting Representatives and the Board's authority over the ICC Code Development Process. This proposal came from the Code Development Review Ad Hoc Committee's Final Report and is designed to provide greater clarity on voter eligibility.
