BOAT Holds Fall Conference |

The Building Officials Association of Texas (BOAT) held its inaugural Fall Conference August 16-19 in Irving, Texas. More than 250 code professionals were in attendance at the event. Seven educational tracts (with continuing education units) were offered. BOAT held its awards banquet and casino night on August 18 at the Las Colinas Marriott. The newly elected Board of Directors were given their oath of office along with several special awards to BOAT members for a job well done. Next year's Fall Conference will be held August 6-10, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas.
Code Council senior staff in attendance were: David Dufrense, Executive Director of Training and Certification; Vaughn Wicker, Vice President of State & Local Government Relations; and Mark Roberts, Regional Manager of Government Relations. In addition, the conference was attended by State of Texas senior staff from various agencies, including; the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners; a variety of ICC Chapters from across the state and other great code organizations in Texas; the International Association of Electrical Inspectors; the Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors; the Texas State Association of Plumbing Inspectors; Energy Systems Laboratory; Texas A&M University; and the Texas Municipal League, among others.

ICC Attends NYSFMIA Annual Meeting |
The New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association (NYSFMIA) Chapter held its Annual Meeting on September 27 in Skaneateles, New York. Code Council Secretary/Treasurer Ron Piester addressed the conference attendees, Vice President of State and Local Government Relations Dorothy Harris presented an update report on code council activities, and Director of Fire Service Activities Bruce Johnson was on hand as well. |
