Chapters "Pay It Forward" to Portland

Chapter leaders keep the tradition alive for next year's conference in Portland.

The Chapter “Pay it Forward” program is a great ICC Chapter tradition to assist Chapters that host ICC Annual Conferences. Traditionally, the host Chapter and other Chapters, during the Annual Banquet, the closing event of the ICC Conference, present checks or pledges to the Chapter that will host the next ICC Conference.

Those who attended the 2011 Host Chapter events in Phoenix—from the Halloween Monster Bash to the Hospitality Extravaganza and the Urban Oasis of Planet Northwest—thoroughly enjoyed the many events organized by ICC Chapters. Incredible, awesome and fantastic were among the comments voiced describing the events.

“On behalf of ICC, thank you to our Chapters for their financial support and commitment to the Annual Conference, as well as the everyday support they provide of our association” CEO Richard P. Weiland said “Unless you have done it, it is hard to imagine the magnitude of such an undertaking as being a host Chapter.”

In Phoenix, Chapters kept the Pay it Forward tradition alive. Accepting on behalf of the 2012 Host Chapter Committee, the Oregon Building Officials, were President Dan Carlson and Vice President Melanie Adams.

Chapters “Paying it Forward” were represented by:

• Robert Lee, President of both the 2011 Host Chapter the Arizona Building Officials and the ICC Central Arizona Chapter;
• Mark Barnhill, President, Alaska Central Chapter;
• Ron Dickinson, President of the Building Officials Association of British Columbia.
• Scott McDonald, President, Building Officials Association of Texas;
