2012 Budget Speaks to Renewed and
Reinvigorated Approach to Customer Service

The ICC Board of Directors adopted the 2012 Code Council budget during its Winter Meeting that included the following highlights that speaks to the Code Council’s renewed and reinvigorated approach to customer service, as it celebrates the Year of the Member. As with any budget given the weakness of the economy the scale of these initiatives are subject to financial performance.

• Customer Call Center — Return to a Customer Call Center so calls will be answered by a knowledgeable individual who can answer your question or quickly direct you to the right person. Anticipated launch of the new Center is April
• Chapter Training Benefit — Increase of the complementary Chapter Training Benefit Program from a half to a full day, for qualifying Chapters. The program was suspended in 2009 due to declining economic conditions and only partially restored in 2010. Chapter leaders met in Phoenix to help staff with design of the new program and expressed interest in looking at a "win-win" approach. Additional work on the New Chapter Training Benefit Program will continue in the first quarter of 2012, with an expected start date of April.
• Code of Honor Scholarship — Continuation of funding for the ICC Foundation’s Code of Honor Scholarship Program. This year’s Budget continues to support the program at a level above 2011. A record 94 delegates attended the 2011 Annual Conference and Final Action Hearings in Phoenix.
• Membership Councils — Continued funding for the new Membership Councils that were launched in 2011. There are currently five discipline-specific Membership Councils that serve to make your ICC Membership and profession even further. Share your expertise, voice, and vision with your peers by joining a Council now.
• Code Development — The 2012 budget also will fund planning to develop a remote participation voting process based on the principles of governmental consensus, as recommended by the Board's Code Development Review Ad Hoc Committee. The Board appointed a steering committee of members to guide the development of the new process. The goal of the new process is to increase participation, strengthen confidence and position ICC for the future of code development. There will be an ongoing information campaign as the planning moves forward and concepts are proposed. The Code Council will need input from all of our members and stakeholders. The project will require frank open consideration of the concepts proposed and be mindful the overall mission of the Code Council.
