New ISPSC Public Version 1.0 Now Available for Download

Public Version 1.0 of the new ICC International Swimming Pool and Spa Code is now available for free download on the ICC website. Developed in cooperation with the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP), Version 1.0 was produced by a multidisciplinary drafting committee and associated working groups throughout the fall of 2010 and into 2011. This comprehensive code has been created to coordinate and enhance, in a single document, the provisions previously found in the International Residential Code and International Building Code and APSP standards. It establishes minimum regulations for public and residential pools, spas, and hot tubs using prescriptive and performance-related provisions. A wide range of topics are covered, including fencing, decks, lighting, heaters, circulation systems, pumps, accessibility, diving, sanitizing equipment, filters, and suction fittings.

The International Swimming Pool and Spa Code Public Version 1.0 document will the subject of another full round of code development using ICC’s full code process throughout 2011. Code change proposals will be accepted until March 1, and will be heard at the Code Development Hearings in Dallas, in May. After comments are received throughout the summer, Final Action Hearings will be held in Phoenix in November. The final version, the 2012 ISPSC, is slated for release in March 2012.
