CODE UPDATE: Significant Code Changes to the 2009 International Residential Code

A modification to story height (Section R301.3) has been made to the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC). In the prescriptive wood framing provisions, floor framing is now permitted to exceed 16 inches in height, provided the overall story height is not exceeded. Structural insulated panel (SIP) bearing walls are limited to 10 feet in height.
