Global Membership Council Profile: Imad Y. Eldurubi

Imad is President of the World Organization of Building Officials, which consults for the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. He has a wealth of consulting experience, both in the United States and abroad, including serving as a building and fire codes consultant in Jordan, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates.

Imad is a former International Code Council project manager/building code consultant and an International Accreditation Service representative at the Department of Municipal Affairs in Abu Dhabi. He is a former Deputy Building and Fire Official in Willdan, Arizona, and interim Building and Fire Official in Holbrook, Arizona.

Imad is Past Chairman of the Arizona Building Officials Association and Past President of the Arizona Chapter of the International Code Council. He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and mathematics from the University of Arizona with post-graduate work at Western International University in Phoenix; and an associate’s degree in architecture and engineering with honors from Harold Washington College in Chicago.

He has been invited to speak at the International Code Council International Forum, Japan’s Conference of Building Administrations, for Construction Week in the United Arab Emirates, for the Association of Building Engineers in Northampton, United Kingdom, and at the Housing and Building National Research Center in Cairo, Egypt.

His many presentations include:

Imad is a member of the World Organization of Building Officials Delegation to the 21st Session of the UN-Habitat Governing Council in Nairobi, Kenya, and has earned many honors, including the Housing and Building National Research Center Award of Merit, Cairo, Egypt, 2005; Arizona Chapter of International Code Council Award of Merit, 2003; Don Cunningham Arizona Building Officials Achievement In Education Award, 2002; Arizona Building Officials Award of Merit, 2001; Arizona Chapter of International Code Council President’s Award for Outstanding Service, 2000; and the Arizona Building Officials Chapter Member of the Year Award, 1999 and 2000.
