President's Report from William D. Dupler
2012 ICC Annual Business Meeting
Portland, Oregon

During the last year, your Board of Directors worked together as a true team with resolve and determination to position the Code Council for continued success as your professional association.

I have seen the efforts of our Members, as well as the Board's and that of our staff. Together, we have worked hard to grow and strengthen our association to best support you as a building safety professional.

We implemented Year of the Member initiatives, which (Acting CEO) Dominic (Sims) mentioned.

We improved customer service.

When the year began, I tasked our Membership Councils, Code Committees, the Board and staff to carry forward the initiatives established by the Code Development Review Ad-Hoc Committee in response to Member feedback.

I am pleased that work is well underway to implement all of the Committee's recommendations. The primary goal was to expand opportunities for all ICC Members and other stakeholders to have meaningful input in the governmental consensus process used to develop the International Codes.

I am excited about the cdp ACCESS initiative. It will expand participation in the code development process, including the final action hearings, in 2015. That will be in time for the start of the code development cycle for the 2018 I-Codes.

I appreciate the great participation we had yesterday in the cdp ACCESS Member Forum. The Board will consider all of your feedback and then make a decision about moving forward with cdp ACCESS in the best way possible for the integrity of the code development process.

As we approach the 10th anniversary of a consolidated Code Council, we have a lot to be proud of and some challenges to overcome. As we move forward, we will continue to make decisions that support our core mission of code development and code application, deliver the tools our Members need to do their jobs, ensure the financial health of the association, and we will continue to follow the path that is in the best interest of our association as a whole.

I know we will be united by our common interest in building safety. Let us rededicate ourselves, and our Chapters, toward the betterment of our association, providing services that are valued by our Members and the protection of the communities we serve.
