Tips on the Road to Success — 2012 Building Safety Month
Now is the time to begin planning for 2012 Building Safety Month.

Start with these three steps that will put you on a path to a successful campaign:

1) Inspire Others by Sharing Your Event Plans on Facebook
Help your fellow members and chapters get ready for Building Safety Month (BSM) by sharing your news and pictures from 2011 along with your ideas and plans for 2012. Post ideas and photos on the BSM Facebook page, or send them to the Foundation team for sharing through ICC eNews and BSM special updates. Remember, Building Safety Month is strong because of widespread local activity, and your creative and unique events are the ingredients that make the campaign successful. If you are not on Facebook, email your news or ideas to Barbara Harrison or Bruce McCullen, or call (888) 422-7233, ext. 4223 today.

2) Secure Your Proclamation
This year we want to secure proclamations from all 50 states and the U.S. territories, so now is the time to start working with your Government Relations representative to request an official state proclamation. We hope to increase the number of jurisdictions proclamations as well, so don't overlook opportunities to have them issued by your local leaders. Securing proclamations can take time, so start the process today using this sample template to draft a custom version and reach out to the Foundation team with any questions.

3) Building Safety Month Toolkits — Pre-Order Now Available
You can now pre-order your 2012 Building Safety Month toolkit from the ICC store by clicking here. As you know, toolkits include useful printed literature for outreach events, strategies for PR success, CODiE and CODEtte activity books, posters and more. Not buying a toolkit? Don't worry. PDFs of most of the literature and brochures will be available online for free.

Thank you in advance for the role you play in bringing Building Safety Month to life as we work together throughout May to showcase the critical role code officials serve in communities throughout the U.S. and across the globe. Last year's campaign was record-breaking with our first-ever Presidential Proclamation and starting early will ensure that 2012 is even bigger.
