Pre-Register for Speed Mentoring Event at Dallas Code Hearings
Are you looking for a mentor to help you along your career path? Do you want to find out more of what being a code official is all about? Have you ever wanted to have some one-on-one face time with some movers and shakers in the code enforcement and development industry? If you've answered "yes" to any of these questions, the Women in Code Enforcement and Development Chapter have just what you need – Speed Mentoring!

Speed mentoring is similar to speed dating. There will be approximately 10-15 mentors participating as mentees rotate through the tables of mentors spending five minutes with each mentor. Some of the mentors include current ICC Board of Director members as well as leaders of the legacy code agencies.

This event will take place at 8:00 p.m. on April 28. So that the amount of mentees can be matched to mentors, pre-registration for this event is preferred. Please send your name, preferred email address, organization/jurisdiction, title, work phone and mailing address to speed@wicedicc.org. We look forward to seeing you at the event!

CALBO Awards "Building Department of the Year"
Butte County officials announced that the Department of Development Services – Building Division earned the 2011 "Building Department of the Year" award from the California Building Officials Association (CALBO). Services in permitting, plan checking, code enforcement, and inspections provided by the Building Division staff have distinguished Butte County from more than 500 building departments throughout California. This is the first time a county has won the award.

The "Building Department of the Year" award is given to an agency that best demonstrates a high degree of service and involvement in these four categories: education, state affairs, community involvement, and innovation.

"This award is a reflection of commitment by the Board of Supervisors and staff from the Department of Development Services to deliver the highest level of customer service," said Steve Lambert, Chair of Butte County Board of Supervisors. "It should be noted that the award indirectly recognizes other County departments that are involved with the building permit process and those that support County operations. It really is a team effort."
