Global Membership Council Profile: Michael Otechi Nyangweso

Michael is the Director of Contract Service Associates, a construction management and consulting services company in Nairobi, Kenya. He studied architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and honed his skills and expertise in building technology by working with various consultants in Nairobi, including Emms Architects, ITA Project Consultants, and the Building & Civil Engineering Department at the JKUAT. He later served a 10-year stint as an estates officer at the National Social Security Fund's extensive real estate portfolio.

Some of Michael's more diverse projects include a property condition survey for the Amadi Institute in Mundri, Southern Sudan, and the compilation of a construction information database for East Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In 2006, Michael visited the United States and represented the ICC Kenya Chapter at the Code Council's Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida. During his stay, he also toured Wilmington, Delaware, and other jurisdictions that enforce the International Codes.

Michael has shared his expertise in building safety and technology in other media outlets, as well, including K24 Television, the East African Standard, the Business Daily and the AAK newsletter. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Architects Chapter of the Architectural Association of Kenya.
