ICC Expands Online Offerings with ASTM Standards

For easy access and application for codes and standards users, the Code Council is collaborating with key standards developers and organizations, such as ASTM, to make the vast array of construction industry safety standards referenced in the 2012 International Codes available to the building industry on the ICC website.

"In today's mobile environment, building officials and other building safety professionals demand information anytime, anywhere—including access to relevant industry standards," said ICC Chief Executive Officer, Dominic Sims. "We're pleased to add more than 440 ASTM standards to our growing digital library."

The latest series of standards from ASTM now available in the ICC digital standards library include more than 440 standards and five comprehensive collections pertaining to the 2012 codes:

• ASTM Standards: As Referenced in the 2012 International Codes
• ASTM Standards: As Referenced in the 2012 IBC & IRC
• ASTM Standards: As Referenced in the 2012 IBC & IFC
• ASTM Standards: As Referenced in the 2012 IBC

2013 California Building Code, Title 24, Part 2 (2 Volumes – Includes Parts 8 & 10)
The California Building Code (CBC) contains general building design and construction requirements relating to fire and life
safety, structural safety, and access compliance. CBC provisions provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property, and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location, and maintenance of all buildings and structures and certain equipment. Matrix Adoption tables are provided at beginning of every chapter in Part 2 to indicate which chapters and sections are adopted by state agencies (for application to their respective occupancies). This 2-volume set is a fully integrated code based on the 2012 International Building Code. The CBC includes: Title 24, Part 8 California Historical Building Code (CHBC): contains regulations of the State Historical Building Safety Board. Provisions contained in the CHBC provide for the preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, relocation, or reconstruction of buildings or structures designated as qualified historical buildings or properties. The CHBC contains alternative solutions for the preservation of qualified historical buildings or properties, to provide access for persons with disabilities, to provide a cost-effective approach to preservation, and to provide for the reasonable safety of the occupants or users.
