2015 International Codes Support Resiliency, Safety, Innovation, Affordability in the Built Environment Jurisdictions and other code users can begin today to prepare for adoption and use of the newest building safety codes. The 2015 International Codes (I-Codes) are developed by International Code Council Members and other safety advocates at public hearings using the governmental consensus process. "The 2015 International Codes reflect the most advanced building science construction methods and practices available," said ICC Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO. "The I-Codes are a comprehensive and coordinated family of codes that support the construction industry to achieve resiliency, safety, innovation and affordability in the built environment." IMT and ICC Present the Standard Bearers Award Now in its third year, the Standard Bearers Award will be presented for the first time by the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) and the International Code Council. The award recognizes state and local jurisdictions and individuals who have raised compliance with energy codes and achieved energy reduction in buildings using smart, cost-effective strategies. Applications are due July 1. |

ICC-ES Engineer to Offer Expertise on SEAOSC Panel ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) Senior Staff Engineer, Howard Silverman, P.E., will be among the expert speakers at the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) June 26 webinar on the 2013 California Building Code (CBC) rules for Concrete Anchorage Emphasizing Post-Installed Adhesively Bonded Anchors. The 2013 CBC and 2012 International Building Code (IBC) both include requirements to ACI 355.4. |

New Staff Add to ICC-ES Technical Expertise and Ensure Timely, Accurate Evaluations ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has expanded its staff to ensure timely service and accurate evaluations as its customer base continues to grow. Jeff R. Filler, Ph.D., P.E., joins the Birmingham office as a Staff Engineer with a primary focus on evaluation of wood products. Eric C. O'Neal, P.E., also will serve on the Birmingham staff as a Staff Engineer. O'Neal will work on evaluation reports for exterior veneer products, gypsum board, wall sheathing, fire doors and fire shutters. Ralph Leyva joins the Whittier staff as an evaluation specialist. He will serve as a general practitioner and work on processing evaluation reports for a variety of building products. ICC-ES Seeks Interested Individuals to Serve on Its New Board of Managers The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) will reorganize its Board of Managers and Advisory Board as part of the overall process that was initiated in 2010 to change its status to a Limited Liability Company. ICC-ES seeks to fill openings on the new board with qualified individuals who will participate and contribute to the governance of ICC-ES through effective guidance on programs, activities and goals. The change will bring several existing members of each Board into a newly formed ICC-ES Board of Managers. |

Join ICC's New Professional Development Council; Have a Voice in National Certification Exams or Education Program To further align the goals of the Education and Certification programs, ICC introduces the Professional Development Council. The newly formed Council will be comprised of two committees, the Certification Committee and the Education Committee, which will each be made up of six members. Members are appointed by the ICC Board of Directors for three-year terms, however the inaugural terms will be one-, two- or three-year terms to achieve staggered term requirements. Members of both committees will be required to meet via web/telephone conference and/or in person up to several times a year, as needed. In-person meetings are generally held at least once a year for a two-day period, with travel expenses reimbursed by ICC. Applications will be accepted for the Certification Committee and the Education Committee until July 1, 2014. For more information, visit the Professional Development Council Applicant Snapshot.
