Update from ICC Board President Jones

Dear Members of our ICC Family,

As I pass the three-quarter point in my term as President of the Board of Directors of this great association, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who help to keep us as the leader in the code development industry. Nothing can drive that point home more than the outstanding successful roll-out of cdpACCESS.

What started several years ago as a call from our Members to create a way in which we could expand participation in the code development process has now become the benchmark by which all other representative voting systems will be measured. This was no small task. Literally thousands of hours spent in meetings developing, brain-storming, refining and testing resulted in the creation of the new "Gold Standard" of remote-representative voting and collaboration. If you don't realize it, cdpACCESS is a true "game-changer" and it is because of your efforts that the ICC is able to continue to succeed as the recognized leader in our industry.

Other examples of ICC expanding participation to benefit public safety include three roundtables that will address complex issues and support code officials, and all of us in the construction industry. A July 31 discussion will address fires in buildings under construction. On Aug. 20, the roundtable topic will be the code adoption cycle. Interested participants can get details by calling 888-ICC-SAFE (422-7233), ext. 6235.

A third roundtable event will be a national summit being planned as part of ICC's 2014 Annual Conference to examine issues and propose solutions related to the education and development of code officials.

On behalf of myself and a grateful Board of Directors, I want to say thank you to all of you for your support.

All the best in safety,

Stephen D. Jones, CBO
President
International Code Council Board of Directors
