ICC Prepares for Proposed HUD Rule Change for Inspectors The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced a rule change that would require FHA home inspections be performed by ICC Certified Combination Inspectors, and ICC expects the rule to be finalized this year. This represents an opportunity to perform home inspections to meet Federal mortgage insurance requirements. Be ready when the change passes—prepare to take the remaining certification exam(s) to become an ICC Certified Combination Inspector. ICC and the Certification & Testing department will continue to keep you informed about the rule with updated information when the HUD rule passes. |

Registration for Fire Sprinkler & Fire Alarm Certification Exams Now Open The Certification and Testing department is excited to announce that registration for the commercial fire sprinkler and commercial fire alarm exams is now open. The International Code Council's newest certification exams were developed based on survey responses and the exam development committees, whose members were selected for their subject matter expertise. Successful completion of the certification exam will advance your career in the commercial fire sprinkler or fire alarm trades, either as an inspector or plans examiner. |

ICC Recertification CEU Improvements and Methods for Obtaining CEUs As announced in the March 21 eNews, the Code Council is adjusting its recertification program to address CEU accruals for cdpACCESS effective immediately. Other modifications in the program include minor adjustments to CEU accrual limits, CEU accruals for Preferred Provider Network (PPN) training and related minimum CEU requirements for ICC and PPN training. The implementation of the minimum training requirements will be phased in through a period of over two years to allow for a smooth transition and to not create a hardship for certified individuals. The ICC Education Preferred Provider Program and the Preferred Provider Network is currently at the design and planning stage. Details of the plan will be announced throughout 2014 as they are developed with the goal of implementation in September 2014. Click here for more information. |
