COAA Holds Annual Conference and Expo

The Code Officials Association of Alabama (COAA) recently held its Annual Education Conference and Vendor Expo in Orange Beach. ICC Board of Directors member Robert Boyer was a special guest at the conference and swore in the new officers (pictured from left): Treasurer Tana Bryant; Secretary Al McNabb; Vice President Jimmy Morgan; and President David Hil. Lindsey Carter of Shelby County is the Immediate Past President. The conference featured the 17th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament and several education sessions ranging from updates to the 2012 IECC to cdpACCESS, ICC’s new online code development tool. During the Annual Banquet, ICC Board Past President James L. Brothers was presented the COAA Legend Award for his years of service to the code enforcement profession. COAA Appreciation Awards also were presented to the Cynthia McKim of the Alabama Architects Board and Jason Reid with the Alabama Home Builders Association.

ICC Los Angeles Basin Chapter Hosts Building Safety Month Meeting

The International Code Council Los Angeles Basin Chapter hosted a Building Safety Month meeting on May 14 in Downey, Calif. California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) Executive Director Jim McGowan presented updates concerning the CBSC. The presentation featured information on the 2013 Intervening and 2015 Triennial Code Cycles, including the respective timelines for each. The graphic representations of the code cycles illustrate the many processes in which CBSC, other state agencies, industry stakeholders and members of the public engage in throughout the development and execution of California's building codes. CAHCEO Holds Annual Meeting and Officer Installation

The Connecticut Association of Housing Code Enforcement Officials (CAHCEO) recently held its Annual Meeting and Officer Installation in New Haven. ICC Board of Directors member Rob Drexler served as the guest speaker and updated attendees on current events and initiatives of the association. ICC staff member Dorothy Harris swore in the new officers (pictured from left): Treasurer Cedric Goo, city of Norwalk; Secretary Marjorie Beauchette, city of Stamford; 2nd Vice President Albertina Baptista, city of Bridgeport; 1st Vice President Deborah A. Miller, city of Stamford; and President Jennifer Eielson, town of Ridgefield.
