Branson, Mo., Building Inspectors 100-Percent Certified

One hundred percent of the inspection staff within the Building and Code Enforcement Divisions of the Planning and Development Department has earned professional certifications from the International Code Council. Through rigorous testing, ICC Certifications ensure that staff have demonstrated competency in the requirements of the International Codes, a complete set of comprehensive, coordinated codes used in most U.S. communities and many global markets for the design, build and compliance process to construct safe, sustainable, affordable and resilient structures. ICC Certifications also demonstrate expert knowledge by staff and can assist in the department's future efforts to become accredited by the International Accreditation Service. In addition, individuals have earned credentials in specific trade or inspection areas, enhancing staff versatility.

"The buildings that were built more recently, and according to adopted standards, consistently fared better than the older buildings that were built prior to the adoption of these code standards." Hornickel added, "We're very proud of our inspection staff, and the work they do to keep our community safe." Read more from the city of Branson

Allowing businesses to provide their own damage assessments will help them get up and running again sooner after a disaster like an earthquake, said City Building Official Stuart Tom.
