Be Sure You Know the ICC Code Development Process Deadlines ICC requires that Primary Representatives must complete an online questionnaire by Sept. 1 for Governmental Member Voting Representatives (GMVR) to be to be eligible to vote at this year's Annual Business Meeting, Public Comment Hearing and Online Governmental Consensus Vote. If a GMVR was properly validated for the 2014 Online Assembly Floor Motion, the Primary Representative does not need to re-validate the GMVR for this Annual Business Meeting, Public Comment Hearing and Online Governmental Consensus Vote, unless there are updates or changes to be made. PMG Code Action Committee Holding Teleconferences in August The Code Council's PMG Code Action Committee is developing proposed changes to the Group A codes via a series of teleconferences on August 5 and August 19 to develop public comments on the Group C International Green Construction Code and to develop proposed changes to the Group A International Codes that are due in January. |

Public Comments Requested for Solar Thermal Systems Draft The ICC Solar Thermal Standard Consensus Committee (IS-STSC) has held four public meetings to develop the first Public Comments Draft of the ICC 900/SRCC 300-201* Solar Thermal Systems Standard. Public comments are requested on this draft. The deadline is August 11. |

Storm Shelters Become Mandatory for All New Illinois School Buildings A new Illinois law will require all new school buildings being constructed in Illinois to include a storm shelter. House Bill 2513 makes it mandatory that Illinois public school buildings meet minimum requirements for a storm shelter set forth by the International Code Council and the National Storm Shelter Association. Daijon Meresh, a sophomore at Marion High School says he would feel safer if his school had a storm shelter. "I don't think the school has the requirements to like save a whole bunch of kids," Meresh said. "These are students' lives." Read more from KFVS News |
