Initial Providers Apply for New ICC Training Program

Education providers will benefit from offering ICC CEUs and access to ICC's audience.

The International Code Council announces that Johnson County, Kan., Contractor Licensing Program was the first education provider to apply for the Preferred Provider Program (PPP).

"Providing fresh, relevant education of unimpeachable quality is a full-time job. The ICC Preferred Provider Program gives me the ability to advertise our seminars nationwide to every building inspector and contractor who needs continuing education credit. As a Preferred Provider, the Johnson County education program has instant credibility," said Sean Reid, Program Manager for Johnson County, Kansas Contractor Licensing Agency.

Other early providers include: Colorado Code Consulting, LLC (the second provider) and the Washington Association of Building Officials (the third provider).

Through PPP, education providers can connect with more than 58,000 ICC Members, more than 350 ICC Chapters, and more than 40,000 ICC-certified individuals who rely on quality training to meet their education needs. Providers also can offer ICC CEUs that learners can use toward ICC certification renewal.

The Johnson County Contractor Licensing Program, Colorado Code Consulting and Washington Association of Building Officials are also current members of the PPP Stakeholder Group. The PPP Stakeholder Group is comprised of potential Preferred Providers from ICC Chapters, government, associations, educators and industry. The group met throughout 2014 and provided feedback to refine and enhance the program that offers ICC Members and others a wide range of training options, and providers with a pool of willing learners.

ICC continues to accept applications from educational providers interested in participating in the Preferred Provider Program.
