The wait is finally over. After months of unpacking boxes, setting up furniture and settling into new cubicles and offices, ICC staff were eager to show around visitors to the new Western Regional Office during the Grand Opening celebration last week on Nov. 13. ICC Members, clients, partners, Board members and visiting staff toured the 23,000-square-foot space that features room for ICC, ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) and International Accreditation Service (IAS) staff, as well as spacious training facilities to host industry meetings and events, a conference center with enhanced wireless capabilities, a bookstore and break areas.

"This is a big step forward for ICC and our staff here in California," said ICC Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims. "We've been part of the fabric of the state of California since 1922 and we've have a few homes over the years, but we're fortunate to now have our home here in Brea, Calif."

Code Council Board of Directors President Guy Tomberlin emphasized the global reach of ICC-ES, and IAS and the Global Services Department, in serving ICC Members that work outside the U.S. "From our Brea location, we will provide services to our U.S. Members, as well as being the global gateway to serving our Members and customers around the world," Tomberlin said. "Our new location allows us to provide clients and customers with the best in class service and features the newest technologies and infrastructure and state-of-the-art training facilities."

Code Council Board Director Jay Elbettar, who provided advice, expertise and support during the move, welcomed the ICC staff to its new office on behalf of the code officials from more than 500 jurisdictions in California. "This facility will provide a great environment for our capable ICC staff to better serve our members, engage them, and exchange information with the goal of producing the best building codes in the nation and the world," said Elbettar. "California is well-known for its innovation in technological advances in our industry and the large volume of and types of construction in our region. Our proximity to Pacific Rim countries will enhance our global services and exchange of information."

As part of the Grand Opening festivities, various governmental and civic leaders presented certificates recognizing and welcoming ICC, and then participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony with ICC executive staff and members of the ICC Board.
