Building Safety Month Coming in May

Campaign reinforces the need for adoption of modern, model building codes; a strong and efficient system of code enforcement; and a well-trained, professional workforce to maintain the system.

Building Safety Month is scheduled for May with a theme of "BUILDING SAFETY: Maximizing Resilience, Minimizing Risks." Building Safety Month is a public awareness campaign supported by ICC and its members to help individuals, families and businesses understand what it takes to create and sustain safe, sustainable and resilient structures. ICC is making information and resources available on its website for jurisdictions to secure proclamations and promote local events.

Individual themes for each week of Building Safety Month include:

Week 1 | May 6-12 | "Code Officials: Keeping Fire in its Place"
Week 2 | May 12-18 | "Code Officials: Helping Homeowners Weather the Storm"
Week 3 | May 19-25 | "Code Officials: Surround Your House with Safety"
Week 4 | May 26-31 | "Code Officials: Building a Brighter, More Efficient Tomorrow"
