ICC/NSSA Storm Shelter Online Courses

When you design, build or review safe rooms, you need to understand the elements and provisions related to storm shelters. How do winds and debris affect safe rooms, and how must safe rooms be constructed to withstand these hazards? Whether safe rooms are needed or just recommended in your area of the country, these two online training courses provided by ICC and the National Storm Shelter Association (NSSA) will help you understand the provisions that cover both residential and community safe rooms.

ICC Residential Safe Room Design and Construction
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to explain the provisions and guidelines related to residential storm shelter: structural design criteria, construction materials, access, siting, anchorage, egress and size limitations.

Community Safe Room Design and Construction
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: determine the appropriate design of a community storm shelter, and apply the ICC/NSSA 500 and ASCE 7 Standards as well as the FEMA P-361 guidelines to design and construction.

Changes Coming to Hire ICC to Teach
