Group C Code Committee Action Hearings Begin this Month

The hearings take place April 27–May 3 at the Cook Convention Center, Memphis, Tenn., and offer Code Council Members and others in the construction industry an opportunity to voice opinions and offer expertise to help develop the 2015 International Green Construction Code. Click here to view the hearings schedule.

The 2014 cycle is the first cycle where the new process for Committee Action Hearing (CAH) assembly floor motions will be implemented. At past hearings, assembly motions were voted on at the hearing. For the 2014 CAH, the process will be revised such that anyone in the assembly can make a motion if they disagree with the committee's action. If the motion is seconded, the moderator will announce that the vote will occur online through cdpACCESS from May 19–30, after the Committee Action Hearing. The results of the online vote will be included in the Report of Committee Action Hearing which is scheduled to be posted on June 6.

Successful assembly motions will be treated the same as they have been in previous cycles, resulting in an automatic public comment to be considered at the Public Comment Hearing. All ICC Members as of March 28, 2014 are eligible to vote.

If you are a Member, please take a moment to log into cdpACCESS and make certain you know your username, password, and voting PIN.
If you need to reset your password or PIN, please visit iccsafe.org/forgotcdp.

New Public Swimming Pool Standard Announced in Time for Memorial Day

In honor of National Water Safety Month and the opening of public pools in May, the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) announces its newly revised standard for public swimming pools, and is offering it free to public health officials across the country. To complement this offering, APSP is also bundling its public pool and spa water quality standard free of charge. With these two standards, public health officials now have a complete package for public pool design and construction standards and water quality standards.

Approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/APSP/International Code Council (ICC)-1 2014 Standard for Public Swimming Pools features significant changes that will impact pool builders, installers and pool operators nationwide and protect those who use and enjoy public pools. The ANSI/APSP-11 2009 Standard for Water Quality in Public Pools and Spas provides recommended minimum guidelines for pool and spa water quality and chemistry in public pools and spas.
