Chapter Golf Challenge in North Texas Benefits a Good Cause

What began as a friendly rivalry between officers of various ICC Chapters in the North Texas area has ended with a new partnership for a good cause. After an earlier episode of ribbing and name-calling at a previous golf tournament, the officers of the Building Officials Association of Texas, the North Texas Chapter of ICC, and ICC Board member Ravi Shah agreed to fund a bet for bragging rights in Texas. Each organization and Ravi put up $200 for those bragging rights, with all of the proceeds benefiting the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity (DAHH). The BOAT golf tournament was held in 107-degree heat at the end of its Fall Education Conference in August.

The decision was made to give the entire amount to DAHH because it is a natural fit with building officials. Pictured left, North Texas President Robert Chatham presented a check for $600 to Erin Hooper of DAHH at the Chapter's monthly meeting. The Chapters and Ravi have agreed to continue to build on the new relationship.

For some reason, after all was said and done, it was not clear who won besides Habitat for Humanity, as no one seemed to be bragging about golf!
