Welcome New Chapter

The Atlanta Metro Permit Technician Association (AMPTA) received chapter status from the Code Council’s Board of Directors on September 13, making it the eighth Council chapter serving the permit technician profession. The chapter’s goal is to provide, support and promote education through networking, certification, professionalism and recognition of membership. AMPTA President Jammie Newsome from the City of Kennesaw, Georgia, and a coworker attended a seminar hosted by the Kansas City Metro Association of Permit Technicians in the spring of 2007, and returned home with the goal of starting their own local group. AMPTA held its first meeting in February 2008 with 14 attendees from five local jurisdictions; the chapter now has 36 members spanning 10 counties and seven jurisdictions.
