Wrap-Up of ICC-ES Activities at Annual Conference in Baltimore
 

The ICC Evaluation Service was involved in several worthwhile and exciting activities during the International Code Council's Annual Conference in Baltimore.

 
Educational Presentations Offering CEUs Were Well-Attended
 
ICC Principal Staff Engineer John Henry presented on ICC-ES Reports and Alternative Seismic Lateral Force-Resisting Components for Light Frame Construction during the ICC Education Programs.
  ICC-ES Director of Special Projects Steve Thorsell spoke on the ICC-ES SAVE Program during the ICC Education Programs.
 
Cracker Barrel Generated Interesting Conversation

The sessions during the Cracker Barrel Luncheon with ICC-ES staff, several report holders and organizations we partner with, generated interesting conversation. The Cracker Barrel discussions included topics such as the Basics of Post-Installed Anchor Inspection, How Evaluation Reports from Multiple Agencies Affect the Role of Code Officials, the ICC-ES SAVE Program, the ICC-ES PMG Listing Program, SAVE Reports—Comprehensive Product Evaluation under Multiple Green Building Rating Systems, and Plumbing Certifications—A New Partnership to Help Code Officials and Manufacturers.

Beaton Honored at ICC Awards Luncheon

ICC Evaluation Service Senior Vice President Mike Beaton was honored with an Outstanding Service Award for 2009 for his quiet, professional approach to his responsibilities; for the manner in which he helped with the transition of ES leadership; and for the progress he has made toward a more customer-centric business plan.

Nosse Received Inaugural Award at ICC Annual Banquet

The Code Council Annual Conference culminated with the Annual Banquet where ICC-ES President Emeritus John Nosse received the inaugural "John Nosse Award for Technical Excellence" for faithfully and unselfishly serving the organizations for 44 years. Nosse advanced technical innovation and safety in the built environment in innumerable ways, and he served as mentor and role-model to countless professionals who have themselves contributed so much to ICC and ICC-ES membership and the public. In honor of Nosse's singular career-spanning impact on technological advancements, building safety, and on the many lives he has so positively touched, the John Nosse Award for Technical Excellence will be awarded each year to a staff professional who best advances and exemplifies Nosse's ideals.
