We are pleased to announce that Jason Smart passed the Professional Engineer's exam in May and is now registered as a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Alabama. He has been promoted to Staff Engineer.

Jason joined ICC-ES in the Birmingham office in October 2005. Among his areas of expertise are dowels, fasteners, joist hangers, engineered wood and structural composite lumber. Working with other staff members, he developed a procedure for the engineered wood industry that significantly improved the efficiency of obtaining an ICC-ES Evaluation Report.

Jason attended Virginia Tech and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Products and a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He is a member of ASTM, serving on Committee D07 (Wood and Wood-based Products) since 2005. Jason is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Structural Engineers Association of Alabama (SEAoAL).
