ICC-ES, CSI Agree to Reference GreenFormat ICC Evaluation Service, LLC (ICC-ES) and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen the relationship between the ICC-ES Environmental Program and CSI's GreenFormat. ICC-ES currently references CSI's MasterFormat and other formats in all of its evaluation reports. The MOU will add GreenFormat references to ICC-ES Environmental Reports. Click to continue. |
ICC-ES Forming Environmental Committee ICC-ES Environmental Programs Director Rob Brooks gave a presentation on the planned expansion of the ICC-ES Environmental Program and creation of a new Environmental Committee at the beginning of the October Evaluation Committee Meeting. The Call for Committee Members for the new Environmental Committee was distributed October 31 during the ICC Annual Conference. ICC-ES received a significant number of applications. ICC-ES Evaluation Committee Considers 23 Acceptance Criteria The ICC-ES Evaluation Committee met October 11-13 in Birmingham, Alabama, to consider newly proposed acceptance criteria for alternate products and for products where additional clarification is needed in the code, existing criteria that need to be revised to reflect current code, and updated standards or changes to products. Twenty-three items were considered, with 13 approved, two withdrawn, one tabled for further review by ICC-ES technical staff and eight held for further study. Important Note: The dates for the next ICC-ES Evaluation Committee, to be held in Los Angeles, have been changed to February 14-16. |
Step on the Gas: ICC-ES Evaluation Reports Increase ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) Reports are important to the building industry because they allow code officials and building professionals to quickly verify that a product meets building code requirements. This is especially useful with new, innovative products, such as the Hilti X-GPN37 MX power-driven fastener, which recently received recognition in ICC-ES ESR-3059. First Live Webcast Allowing More Access to ICC-ES Evaluation Committee Hearings Well-Received ICC-ES launched its first live webcast of the Evaluation Committee meetings this October to allow industry professionals to view live video from the hearings and to bring the acceptance criteria process to those who could not attend in person and wanted to view discussions of pertinent agenda items. The first was well received by those attending online as well as in person. People who viewed the live webcast ranged from engineering professors and students to international guests. Stay tuned for details on the next webcast from the Evaluation Committee Meeting next year in Los Angeles. |
