Results of the October 2011 Evaluation Committee Meeting

1. MISC1 — Test Method for the Evaluation of Fire-resistance Rating of Horizontal Shutters Used in Escalator Openings. The committee chairman noted that this item was withdrawn. No action was taken by the committee.

2. AC438 — Acceptance Criteria for Alternative Asphalt Roofing Shingles. This new criteria was approved to set forth requirements for alternative asphalt roofing shingles that do not meet all of the prescriptive requirements of ASTM D 3462.

3. AC365 — Acceptance Criteria for Building-integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) Roof Covering Systems. Revisions were approved to update the criteria to 2012 codes, to incorporate the BIPV shingles/module requirements of the 2012 codes, and to apply the 2012 code requirements for BIPV roof shingles/modules to all BIPV roof products currently covered by the criteria.

4. AC358 — Acceptance Criteria for Helical Foundation Systems and Devices. Revisions proposed for this criteria were held for further study.

5. AC179 — Acceptance Criteria for Metallic HVAC Duct Enclosure Assemblies. Revisions were approved to update the criteria to the 2009 and 2012 codes and to adopt a new ASTM test standard, ASTM E 2816, which was developed specifically for applications noted in this criteria.

6. AC04 — Acceptance Criteria for Sandwich Panels. Revisions to the exception given in Section 8.1 of the criteria were approved so that combustibility of panels not greater than 10 feet in height is not a deciding factor in determining whether the panels are required to be under an inspection program.

7. AC326 — Acceptance Criteria for Proprietary Wood Preservative Systems – Common Requirements for Treatment Process, Test Methods and Performance. Revisions to the appendices of the criteria were approved to update referenced standards to agree with the current AWPA Book of Standards.

8. AC58 — Acceptance Criteria for Adhesive Anchors in Masonry Elements. Revisions were approved to include a requirement for testing by the Independent Testing and Evaluation Agency (ITEA).

9. AC232 — Acceptance Criteria for Anchor Channels in Concrete Elements. A number of editorial revisions were approved to improve the criteria in addition to other technical changes and changes to the provisions involving Independent Testing and Evaluation Agencies (ITEAs).

10. AC193 — Acceptance Criteria for Mechanical Anchors in Concrete Elements. Revisions were approved to clarify the evaluation of post-installed mechanical anchors installed through the soffit of concrete-filled metal deck and roof assemblies and also to introduce design parameters that were previously absent.

11. AC437 — Acceptance Criteria for Expansion Bolts in Structural Steel Connections (Blind Bolts). This new criteria was approved to address requirements for evaluating connections in structural steel which use expansion anchor steel fasteners (blind bolts).

12. AC261 — Acceptance Criteria for Connectors Used with Cold-formed Steel Structural Members. Revisions were approved to clarify Sections 4.1 and 4.4 of the criteria.

13. AC378 — Acceptance Criteria for Fiber-cement Interior Substrate Sheets Used in Wet and Dry Areas. Revisions proposed to this criteria were held for further study.

14. AC70 — Acceptance Criteria for Fasteners Power-driven into Concrete, Steel and Masonry Elements. Revisions proposed to this criteria were held for further study.

15. AC315 — Acceptance Criteria for Masonry Veneer with Polystyrene Foam Plastic Backing. This new criteria was approved which will update and replace the ICC-ES Evaluation Guideline for Masonry Veneer with Polystyrene Foam Plastic Backing (EG315).

16. AC439 — Proposed Acceptance Criteria for Glass Railing and Balustrade Systems. This new criteria which was proposed to address the evaluation of glass railing and balustrade systems was held for further study.

17. AC269.1 — Proposed Acceptance Criteria for Proprietary Sheathing, Jobsite-attached to Wood Light-framed Wall Construction Used as Braced Wall Panels under the IRC. This new criteria, which was proposed to update the wall bracing provisions for wood frame construction of AC269 to the 2009 IRC, was held for further study.

18. MISC2 — Acceptance Criteria for Laminated Fibrous Sheathing Material (AC295) and Acceptance Criteria for Laminated Fibrous Sheathing Material Used as a Water-resistive Barrier (AC382). Revisions proposed to modify AC295 and AC382 to reflect changes being proposed to update AC269 to the 2009 Codes under the newly proposed Acceptance Criteria for Proprietary Sheathing Jobsite-attached to Wood Light-frame Wall Construction Used as Braced Wall Panels Under the IRC (AC269.1) were held for further study.

19. AC427 — Acceptance Criteria for Cast Connex® High Strength Connectors™ for Use as Bracing Connections. This new criteria was approved to set forth general design requirements and procedures for casting and quality control of Cast Connex® High Strength Connectors™ which are used in special and ordinary concentrically braced frames.

20. AC434 — Acceptance Criteria for Masonry and Concrete Strengthening Using Fiber-reinforced Cementitious Matrix (FRCM) Composite Systems. This new criteria was approved for evaluating fiber-reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composite systems that are used to strengthen existing masonry and concrete structural elements.

21. AC436 — Proposed Acceptance Criteria for Seismic Performance of Light Frame Lateral Force Resisting Assemblies. This new criteria, which was proposed to replace portions of existing ICC-ES acceptance criteria relating to seismic equivalence of prefabricated lateral force resisting vertical assemblies (LFRVAs) or LFRVAs of alternative light-frame construction that consist of unique configurations, or components to load bearing shear walls of light-frame construction, was held for further study.

22. AC316 — Acceptance Criteria for Shrinkage Compensating Devices. The question as to whether revisions to this criteria are needed to address failure modes in tension-controlled shrinkage compensating devices (TCSCD) that are not currently envisioned in the criteria was tabled for further review by ICC-ES staff.

23. AC12 — Acceptance Criteria for Foam Plastic Insulation. Revisions proposed which would allow recognition of thermal resistance (R-values) higher than that stated in the applicable standard were withdrawn by staff based in input received at the meeting and during the public comment period.
