Staff Expertise Continues to Increase

Dr. Mahmut Ekenel, P.E. and Jason H. Wagner, P.E. have been recognized within the industry for their knowledge and engineering expertise. Both engineers are located in the Whittier, Calif. office. The Whittier office also welcomes two new technical staff members, Daniel W. Cheney, P.E., formerly the Manager of Product Acceptance for Weyerhaeuser Corporation, has been hired as a Senior Staff Engineer and Richard Wang hired as an Evaluation Specialist.

Jason H. Wagner, P.E., located in the ICC-ES Los Angeles office, received his Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. With this accomplishment, Wagner was promoted to ICC-ES Staff Engineer. His primary focus at ICC-ES is structural anchors.

Dr. Mahmut Ekenel, P.E. and ICC-ES Staff Engineer, was one of the editors of a recently published ACI Symposium Publication titled: Advances in FRC Durability and Field Applications (SP-280). This publication contains 10 technical papers. The topics of the papers cover durability aspects of fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) ranging from permeability to shrinkage cracking, long-term behavior in aggressive environment, as well as applications of fiber-reinforced concrete for coupling beams, beams for bridges, panels and suspended foundation slabs. The papers included in this publication have been peer reviewed by international experts in the field according to the guidelines established by the American Concrete Institute (ACI).

Daniel W. Cheney, P.E is joining ICC-ES as a Senior Staff Engineer and will split his time between his home office in Boise, Idaho and the Whittier, California office. Prior to joining ICC-ES, Cheney was the Manager of Product Acceptance for Weyerhaeuser Corporation and was responsible for obtaining and maintaining evaluation reports for all Weyerhaeuser product lines.
