Los Angeles Broadens Acceptance of ICC-ES Product Evaluations

The city of Los Angeles Department of Building Safety (LADBS) has expanded its acceptance of ICC-ES evaluation reports to include two new categories of building products without requiring the city's own Research Reports. The two product categories are Non-Structural Fire Life Safety; and Structural Non-Seismic, or Non-Wind. ICC-ES PMG, SRCC Offer Dual Certification Program for Solar Thermal Products

The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) PMG Listing Program and the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) are collaborating to offer a dual certification program for all solar thermal product manufacturers, which will result in a PMG listing issued by ICC-ES PMG and a thermal performance rating issued by SRCC. "Partnering with ICC-ES PMG is the logical choice to provide solar thermal product manufacturers with one point of contact from two highly reputable third-party certification organizations," said SRCC Executive Director, Eileen Prado. ICC-ES, Manufacturers Work Together to Ensure Compliance

The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has updated its acceptance criteria to reflect revisions to the 2012 International Building Code and 2012 International Residential Code. Many manufacturers have updated, or are in the process of updating, their ICC-ES evaluation reports (ESRs) with the most current technical data, showing compliance with the 2012 I-Codes. ESRs updated to the most current codes demonstrate to code officials, designers, architects, engineers and others in the construction industry that they can confidently approve or specify products based on the most current information. ICC-ES, CSSA Develop Steel Stud Compliance Certification Program

ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) and the Certified Steel Stud Association (CSSA) have developed a steel stud code compliance certification program that provides code compliance certification through the use of evaluation report supplements and inspections to CSSA member companies. CSSA members will benefit from this new program by ICC-ES' certification verifying their compliance to the most current applicable codes. ICC-ES PMG, SAI Global to Cooperate on Plumbing Product Listings

The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) PMG Listing Program and SAI Global are joining forces to offer a dual certification program for all plumbing, mechanical and gas product manufacturers. Having certified more than 3,000 manufacturers worldwide, SAI Global is Australia's leading and largest certification body. "As a result of this cooperation, manufacturers can obtain expedited ICC-ES PMG and SAI Global Listings with quick acceptance by officials in North America as well as Australia and New Zealand at a lower cost," said ICC-ES PMG Senior Program Manager Dawn LaFleur-Qualley. NIBCO Earns ICC-ES PMG Listing for Its Press System

ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has issued PMG-1098 to NIBCO for its Press System. This ICC-ES PMG Listing allows code officials to quickly determine the press system's compliance to specific codes and standards. The press copper and copper alloy fittings are used in service and distribution piping for hot and cold domestic water, potable drinking and cooking water, condenser and chilled water, and hot water heating. "Obtaining the ICC-ES PMG Listing for our Press System has been a high priority for NIBCO Inc.," said Manager of Standards and Codes for NIBCO, Andrew Granzow. Continue reading story


ICC-ES Adds New Technical Expertise to Staff

John Lee, P.E., S.E., has joined ICC-ES' Whittier, Calif., office as a Staff Engineer. John graduated from Harbin Engineering University, Harbin China, with a B.S. in civil (structural) engineering and received an M.S. in civil (structural) engineering from Oregon State University. He is a registered civil engineer in California and North Carolina, and is also registered as a structural engineer in California. John brings more than 15 years of structural design experience to service ICC-ES clients.

Anika Meadows has joined ICC-ES' Birmingham, Ala., office as an Evaluation Specialist. Anika graduated from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, and is registered as an Engineering Intern with the State of Alabama. Anika worked with the Alabama Department of Transportation during her time at the University of Alabama. Since that time, she has held positions as a construction inspector and worked in project management. She will assist in expediting ICC-ES Evaluation Reports to ensure ICC-ES exceeds customer expectations.
